[어이없다]:도대체 어이가 없습니다. 역자는 자신이 무슨 말을 하는지 묻습니다 {{브랜드란 “우리와는 전혀 상관없는 것이다.}}라고 하고 있는데 도대체 이게 말이 되냐 말입니다. 특정 기업의 종사자가 그 회사 브랜드와 ”아무 관계가 없다“면 도대체 그 어떤 것과 관계가 있단 말입니까?


[Brand "means all the things that we're not," he said.]:1)이 문장을 역자는 결국 “브랜드란 ‘우리와는 전혀 상관없는 것이다’,”라고 오역하고 말았는데요. 2)우선 이 문장의 바른 번역을 먼저 보이죠. “브랜드란 ‘그 모든 것을 의미하지만 우리가 그 모든 것은 아니다,”라고 옮겨야 합니다.


[brand]:1)역자는 도대체 여기 쓰는 brand가 뭔지도 모르고 있습니다. 브랜드는 그 이하에서 제시되고 있는 “Snow White and Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck and Goofy”아닙니까? 2)Roy가 보는 we란 이 브랜드에다가 디즈니에서 일하는 남녀직원들 (the guys and gals)를 더한 것입니다. 3)수식화하면 다음과 같습니다. We(=Disney)={{Snow White and Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck and Goofy}}+{{all those guys}}+{{all those gals.}}


[all the things의 의미]:1)바로 그 아래에 나오잖아요. 도대체 어디를 보고 무엇을 읽고 있나요? 2) {{Snow White and Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck and Goofy}}라고 나와 있잖아요. 이게 디즈니의 브랜드들이죠. 다른 말로 하면 디즈니 브랜드를 달고 팔리는 상품들이죠.

[가장 파렴치한 번역의 전형]:이 짧은 한 단락의 번역에서 나는 한국 번역 작가의 가장 파렴치한 번역의 전형 같은 걸 봅니다. 그렇다는 것은 거짓말과 자기도 모르는 말의 얼버무림과 조작(all those guys and gals를 자의적으로 뺌)로 범벅이 되어 있기 때문입니다.


[영어 공부의 순서]:1)영어는 통사론에서 구문론으로 옮겨가고 그리고 해석학을 거쳐서 의미론으로 옮겨가야 합니다. 그렇게 배우고 가르쳐야 합니다. 참으로 통탄스러운 것은 많고 많은 한국 번역 작가의 경우 해석학 의미론은 고사하고 구문론도 제대로 깨치지 못한 자들이 거의 전부입니다. 2)관계대명사 서술 부분을 제대로 옮기지 못하는 경우가 이것입니다. {{Brand "means all the things that we're not," he said.}}여기서 관계대명사 that의 선행사는 물론 things이고 이 things가 그 이하 문장 {{that we're not}}의 보어 (complement)가 되어 있는 걸 모르고 엉뚱하게 얼버무리고 있으니 말입니다. (=but we're not all those things)

[comments]::1)You see here a criminal type of a version work with a most flagrant attribute. The translator is lying, among all things, to himself, prevaricating in the most important part of statement, and distorting facts.


2)How on earth is it possible? He is even kept in the dark about what it means by 'brand.' As a logical result, he has mistaken the meaning of the sentence two. The sentence does not mention Roy's experience but his habit or temperament.


3)The translator has naturally got the sentence three wrong. Utterly wrong in that he has misconstrued the sentence {{Brand "means all the things that we're not," he said. }}to mean to the effect that "Brand has nothing to do with us." I ask you dullard, if brand of a corporate entity does not have anything to do with its members, then what does it?


4)The translator is totally ignorant about the syntactic structure of the sentence three and its meaning. As you readers see, the precedent of the relative pronoun 'that' is things, which is the complement of the predicate verb 'are.' So, the statement should be translated to the effect that: "Brand means all the things, but we are not brand (=all the things) alone."


5)The translator must be a total blind, having eyes, see not. What the hack are you looking at, Mr. Translator? How come you can't see that brand is "all the things" which are shown immediately below. So, an equation is naturally made:Brand=all the things={{Snow White and Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck and Goofy.}}


6)The translator, who has bungled the version work so far, has prevaricated by arbitrarily cutting off the tail, which is unforgivable. What are 'we'? According to identity-conscious Roy, {{"We're Snow White and Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck and Goofy and all those guys and gals.“}} Another equation:We(=Disney)={{brand=Snow White and Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck and Goofy}}+{{all those guys}}+{{all those gals.}}
