2)It gets me stupefied that the writer has mistaken the meaning of the phrase {{a halfway house}} for an absolutely ludicrous facility. Thus, he has misconstrued the statement {{Roger served six months in a halfway house in Texas,}}to mean "Roger worked for six months in a hotel in Texas." The word halfway means "in the middle."


3)The word halfway means "in the middle", used as an adjective and an adverb. In the olden times, hundreds of years ago, that is, the married women of Korea had used 반보기 (pronounced barn bogey) "halfway meetings." (translated by the writer himself) The women, straitlaced, controlled and supervised by their husband's families and relatives, had hardly had time for the travel to visit their parents.


4)In the olden times, the people living in the rustic villages had been amorously tied between communities tens of miles apart over hills or mountain valleys. So, the married daughters and their parents had had to meet halfway between their husband's house and their parents'. They had hit the road for the halfway destination, and pulled out their prepared lunch boxes there, inquiring after each other.
